Support NSAI Through Our Legislative Fund

As a not-for-profit association, NSAI can legally conduct lobbying efforts in Washington, D.C., on behalf of our members.  Our copyright protection- and songwriter advocacy-efforts are extensive and include the Songwriters Capital Gains Tax Equity Act, legislation spearheaded by NSAI.  The tax correction, which went into effect in 2007, allows songwriters to keep as much as 30% more of the money generated through a catalogue sale by allowing writers to claim the Capital Gains tax rate on that sale.

In 2008, NSAI was involved in the testimony in Washington, D.C., before the Copyright Royalty Board, and we continue to sit down with members of Congress as they work to update copyright laws for the Digital Age.

These efforts are supported in part by funds raised during the Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival and at legislative fundraising shows throughout the year.  But we need your help to continue this essential work to protect the songwriters, the authors and composers who make the music possible. (For more about our lobbying efforts, please see our Legislative Page.  Please note: donations to not-for-profit organizations such as NSAI are not tax deductible.)
