Morristown TN native Morry Trent originally came to Nashville to pursue his dream of a College education. Prior to his move to Music City he spent several years playing in Club bands in East TN and Florida before attending Belmont College. After graduation he worked at Screen Actors Guild and American Federation Of Television and Radio Artists and eventually became the Asst. Executive Director for the Nashville Office.
Always having a passion for songwriting and guitar Morry, left SAG/AFTRA to write songs and open an indie Music Publishing Company with his wife Mickey.
He has had songs recorded by artists such as The Grascals, The Roys, Darron Norwood, Jerry Kilgore, Diana DeGarmo and Ayla Brown (both finalists on American Idol), as well Ireland’s Jimmy Buckley and Doug Bruce of Australia.
Trent has also been a featured songwriter in Bluegrass Music Profiles Magazine and Nashville.com online.
His songs have been highlighted in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series and performed at world famous venues such as the Ryman Auditorium and The Grand Ole Opry. Trent himself has performed at nationally known venues and festivals including The Bluebird Café, the Frank Brown International Songwriter’s Festival and The Key West Songwriter’s Festival.
Most recently Morry co-wrote the title cut on The Roys soon to be released album and video, “Gypsy Runaway Train” on Rural Rhythm Records.
He is an active member of Nashville Songwriter’s Association International (NSAI) formerly serving on the Legislative Committee. Currently he serves as a mentor to aspiring songwriters for NSAI.
Morry lives in Franklin with his wife Mickey and their two sons, Griffin and Gavin.
