Last Thursday, January 17, 2008, was another busy Pitch-to-Publisher Night at the Nashville Workshop. Thanks to everyone who came out and participated. Special thanks to our guest publisher, Larry Sheridan from Best Built Songs. Larry listened to verse and chorus on 73 songs and took songs from Lauren Barret, Diane Gee, Lizzy McAvoy, Diona Devincenzi, Gigi Swanson, Rich Fyhr, and Nicole Herman. Congratulations to all of these folks! Tips: Just a few reminders to help you be your professional best! Make sure you have your contact information such as name, phone number and email on both your CD and your typed lyric sheet. Make it easy for the publisher to get back with you. If you have the opportunity to stay till the end of the evening, a quick thank you to the publisher is always appreciated, however, this is not the time to try to press them to take a song or a CD. Finally, calling or visiting their publishing company and asking for an appointment based on having met them at the workshop is not cool unless they have specifically invited you to do so. Always be professional. It will pay off in the end!
