Well, ok, Song Camping, where pitching refers to songs, not tents, and fires are lit in souls, not piles of wood. Thanks to all who attended NSAI’s Song Camp, July 16-18, where over 90 campers spent the weekend writing, singing, learning and sharing. It was inspirational, educational and just plain fun!
Pro faculty members for this Song Camp included Rick Beresford, James Dean Hicks, Angela Kaset, Huge Prestwood, Don Henry, Ralph Murphy, Jason Blume and Steve Leslie. The faculty taught specifics on songwriting, did “break downs” on their hits and reviewed members songs in feedback sessions. Campers were able to share their songs in an open mic setting at the Holiday Inn Vanderbilt's Commodore Lounge as well as “camper-in-the-round" setting while Saturday night featured an incredible faculty show at Douglas Corner Cafe.
Much like a weekend with family and nature can build memories that last for years, spending the weekend with a songwriting family can build friendships and sometimes co-writer partnerships that last. If you’ve not yet taken the opportunity to attend an NSAI Song Camp, consider it in the future as it can be a life changing experience.
WE WANT TO SEE YOU NEXT YEAR! Check back by September 2010 for details on Song Camp 2011.
